Today You Are You...
Dr.
Seuss wrote: “Today
you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than
you!” From time to time, everyone feels sluggish, sad, or a bit dead inside
– you know the feeling. And each of us knows what it's like to feel fully
alive. Sometimes we long for it. Maybe you feel really alive when taking a
long walk at sunset. Or playing an instrument. Possibly it's reading a great
book and taking time to savor its thoughts and language. Perhaps it's having a
talk with lots of laughter, a glass of wine, while sitting in front of a fire
with a few close friends. Maybe you’re most alive when watching a movie or a
play that causes you to say yes to life. My favorite is taking a long drive and
being alone with God. Irenaeus, one of
the first great Christian theologians wrote: “The glory of God is a human being fully alive.” To the Hebrews
the Apostle Paul
wrote saying: “…The word of God…is alive and
moving…[able to] divide
between soul and spirit…able to judge the thoughts and will of the heart. No
creature can hide from God: God sees all...” Think about this: Being fully alive starts with knowing God and
allowing Him to transform us and empower us so that we share His love and hope
with others. It means staying connected to Him so that He shapes us and gives us
motivation, direction and resiliency for our everyday lives…Pastor Keith #minmchurch
