What was your most sought after Christmas toy?

Image
Toys come and go each Christmas season. There are few iconic toys that have withstood time, like: GI Joe   action figures;  Big Wheel ;  Cabbage Patch Kids ;  Tickle Me Elmo  or  Barbie Dolls . What was your most sought after Christmas toy?  And, I wonder what this year’s most sought after toy will be? Maybe it's the one that a child most hopes for, but the prospects of getting it are slim to none — it’s not likely there will be a wrapped gift under the Christmas tree, this year. For Christmas 2021, we have the names 75 children from a local Tier 1 elementary school. It’s our desire and prayer to help make theses kiddo’s holiday just a little brighter by allowing them to wake   up on Christmas morning to see what gifts Santa left under the tree.   Economic experts estimate that the cost of children’s toys may be up as much as 10% ahead of this holiday season. Many in-demand gifts will likely be out of stock soon amid a snarled global supply chain. Sigh.  Help us be the " churc

3.0 Salvation Anxiety - Am I Saved From Hell?

Image
In Ephesians the Apostle Paul wrote :   “ Put on the whole armor of God, That you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil”  The Devil. Satan. Baal-Zebub. The Tempter. The Accuser.   We read in the Scriptures, who  is evil — checkout that story is in Ezekiel 28. It’s pointed and profound: “… I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub …Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wi s dom because of your splendor…” Richard Rohr, in 2019, wrote a short book entitled: What Do We Do with Evil ? This caught my attention: <quote> “…I believe personal evil is committed rather freely…We call war “good and necessary,” but murder bad. National or corporate pride is expected, but personal vanity is bad … Evil … has become not only pleasing to us but idealized, romanticized …  we now find ourselves unable to recognize … the tyranny of evil… ” < end quote>   On Wednesday October 6th and 13th @ 7pm we’ll

2.0 Salvation Anxiety

Image
Because of where and when we live,  we’re kinda scripted to be anxious.  I’ve read that the USA is now the most anxious nation in the world — this is a costly achievement.  But thankfully Jesus does not share our anxiety. However, many of our brothers and sisters in Christ, do.  Anxiety is not fun: It can twist us like an emotional Bavarian pretzel; It takes our breath away; Our heads hurt; Our armpits sweat like a leaking faucet.   How can this be? Our cars are safer than ever. We regulate industries like no other country. If worry was an olympic event, we would win the gold medal hands down!  What's up with this? Last Wednesday  we began chatting about anxiety and its relevance  to our faith and journey.  We will continue our conversation this week, September 22nd @ 7pm.   With us, y ou’ll find space to  ask questions, share your thoughts and develop authentic relationships. Because of the Delta variant, which is more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus

Salvation Anxiety

Anxiety. I know, I know, as faith walkers we are not to be anxious. So we re-word our being anxious and say rather: It’s just a low-grade trepidation; I’m experiencing an edginess; It’s not being anxious, but a dread or the  'willies'  - I’m having a feeling. So we don’t sleep well. We don’t laugh as often. We forget how to enjoy the sun, the stars and the moon. We no longer play …   Anxiety has its reasons, we reason: Airplanes fall out of the sky; Viruses are real; Bull markets go bear; The other shoe will fall. It’s all jut a matter of time, we conclude, so we worry. We are anxious about being anxious. And should this creep into our journey of faith, we might even say: Connect with us on Wednesday September 15th @ 7pm for an interactive discussion.  With us, y ou’ll find space to  ask questions, share your thoughts and develop authentic relationships. Because of the Delta variant, which is more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus that causes COVID-1

All Things Made New

Image
So this old time Pharisee guy named Nicodemus comes to talk to Jesus one night — they have a little convo   about being born again and stuff like that.   Not surprisingly, Nicodemus is confused. He wonders how someone could be born twice. Twice?   Born Again. What Does That Mean to You? Nicodemus didn't get it. It seems Nic was letting his smarts get in the way of his faith. Jesus agrees—it  is  pretty mysterious. But no worries, Jesus totally knows how God works: He has a plan for how things are made new. Connect with us on Wednesday September 1st @ 7pm. Let's chat. With us, y ou’ll find space to  ask questions, share your thoughts and develop authentic relationships, while meaningfully engaging the life and teachings of Jesus. Love in the Sand

Image
May your love for others not be like writing in the sand,   but an inscription upon the rocks. May your love be rooted and grounded and  n ourished by a source, deeper,   eternal and grander then yourself. May your love be palpable,   consistent and sincere. May we:  “ love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are ... the same people ” ~ G.K.Chesterton       Instagram   Home   Office[at]minm.church   Facebook

What Does Born Again Mean To You?

If you were to drop: “born again” at a dinner meet-up,  would the other guests give you: "awww, bless your heart”  or the proverbial stink eye? What does: Born again mean to you?  Born Again. It’s a term well known in American culture,  a  major theological emphasis in some denominations of Christianity;  Born Again. God Loves Things By Becoming Them

Image
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth . . .  The earth was formless and empty . . . and the Spirit of God was hovering . . . Then God made: The very waters that fall upon the earth, run through our rivers,  our bodies,  and fill our oceans; The plants, the trees, all living and growing networks  that root into this earth; The animals in our skies, in our oceans, on the land,  all creatures great and small; The humans: every race, nationality,   sexuality and gender. . . .  and He looked over all he had made,   and he saw that it was very good!
