Hitting the “snooze” button on God

“..Then Jesus went with his followers to a place called Gethsemane…“Sit here while I go over there and pray [He said] … Jesus went back to his followers and found them asleep..” Can you relate to the disciples when you read this passage? Let’s face it life can be exhausting. Aren’t there days where you just want to hit the snooze button and crawl back in to bed? And sometimes, Christianity can be exhausting too. Think of all the people who need to be helped, encouraged, taught, and ministered to, it’s no wonder so many Christians are tired. “..Happy is the person who stays awake..” wrote John the Revelator. The NoDoz caplets of the Christian life are to give God our full attention, all the time. Not in a monk like daze, but with the alertness that comes from being led by the Spirit of God.
